Kitchen Connections
Flourishing
Members of the SIL program taking part in Kitchen Connections
workshops have been cooking up all kinds of magic in the kitchen
at the King Street Hub. The 5-week course, led by professional chef
Jennifer McConnell, provides hands-on learning in the areas of
meal planning, budgeting, food preparation, cooking – and clean
up! – and also includes enjoying the newly cooked meal together
after class, with a second meal all boxed up for each participant
to take home. The program was launched with funding from the
Rotary Club of Midland and Huronia Community Foundation’s
Heart of Georgian Bay Community Fund, and has been a positive,
impactful addition to the support provided to CLH-supported
individuals who live independently on their own in the community.
SIL Members learn essential kitchen
skills, gain confidence at the
grocery store and in the kitchen –
and connect with their peers.
