The Great Pantry Re-Stock Makes A Difference
A sunny crew of CLH volunteers gathered at Olive Street in December for the “Great Pantry Re-Stock”
hamper packing day.
This annual community-supported initiative benefits the members of CLH Developmental Support
Services’ Supported Independent Living (SIL) program and helps bridge the gap between their
monthly ODSP income and the cost of food and shelter, a welcome boost in the tough winter months.
Through November, community donations of pantry items and household cleaning products are
gathered, sorted and organized for “packing day”. Once the packages are assembled, CLH’s SIL direct
support staff ensure that each one of the 36 SIL members receive their personalized bundles of good
things.
Led by CLHF Board members Lois Irvine and Sarah Kitchen and
supported by the team at One Stop Beauty Shop in Midland, the Great Pantry Re-
Stock has made a difference for SIL members every December since 2021. Thank you to
Raytheon ELCAN and Flynn’s Public House for generously supporting this initiative by
collecting items on our behalf.
Thank you to Fer-Mar Farm, Armco Dairy and Westal View Farms for their generous
contributions. And thank you to the following for their financial support: Midland Civitan
Club, North Simcoe Community Futures Development Corporation, Kevin Mateff, Lois &
Steve Irvine, St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Steve Bray, Bobbi Miller-Indulge Boutique,
Sara Knight, Judy Wiseman, Nelson Eddie, Pauline Lamoureux, and Louise Maurice.
