Lois Irvine DIREC TOR
“I had wanted to volunteer with CLH Foundation for several years before the opportunity arose.
I stay involved because the mission statement aligns with my personal values. It is also to honour
my sister, who was fortunate enough to benefit from many CLH programs including Supported
                             Independent Living.

My advice if you are considering volunteering with CLH (or any other community organization):
Remember that it is always what you give that fills the heart.

My favourite memory or experience as a CLH volunteer was last year, when I was able to work side
by side with members of the CLH community to help with the assembly of hampers for the “Great
                             Pantry Re-Stock.”

Sarah Kitchen B O ARD PRESIDENT
“I’ve volunteered with CLH Foundation since 2016 and served on the Board of Directors since 2017. I
was inspired by CLH’s mission to support individuals with developmental disabilities and the impact
that quality programs have on our community. I stay involved because I see firsthand how we are
making a difference in people’s lives every day.

My advice for someone considering volunteering with CLH (or any other community organization):
Go for it! Volunteering allows you to give back, learn from others, and make meaningful connections.
There’s no better way to understand your community than by being an active part of it.”

Dave Sibley B OARD VICE PRESIDENT
Prior to joining the CLH Foundation Board, Dave was on the board of CLH Developmental Support
Services for 8 years. “My son Aaron inspired me to get involved; I wanted to support the organization
because of him, and I wanted to make a difference. When I was 17 I did a work placement in high
school at Community Living Huronia (as it was called then), assisting people with disabilities to see
the Pope when he visited the Martyr’s Shrine.

This work is rewarding and also fun. The friendships and connections that you make with the
individuals supported by CLH and other people who have similar stories to ours is incredible. As
a Board member, you need to get others involved in the cause: when you are passionate about
it, people want to help you. There is nothing more satisfying than introducing family, friends and
colleagues to the CLH community and watching them get involved and engaged.”

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in your community?
CLH Foundation is currently recruiting individuals to serve on its Board of Directors.
Board members are required to attend monthly meetings (approximately one hour, primarily virtual), participate
in in-person planning sessions and training annually, and take part in Foundation-led fundraising events and
activities. To express your interest, visit: clhfoundation.ca/join-our-board or email clh.foundation@clhmidland.on.ca
