The CLH Foundation
Board of Directors
CLH Foundation Board members play a vital role in advancing the enriched programming of CLH Developmental Support
Services through hands-on involvement and leadership in fundraising and community awareness efforts. It’s a pleasure to
put the spotlight on this hard-working (and spirited!) group of volunteers; they are passionate about creating opportunities
for CLH-supported individuals to have every opportunity to connect, participate and thrive!
Dorothy Blanks SECRETARY-TREASURER
“Over the years Meridian – who I work for – would support CLH events, and I would attend and help
raise funds. I was involved in many other community endeavours but had never been on a Board.
When I was approached to consider joining the CLH Foundation Board, I didn’t hesitate: I’m so
passionate about the people supported by CLH, and this was a way for me personally to focus my
involvement and support.
My advice for anyone considering volunteering for any organization is that if you feel it in your heart,
then do it: it’s the most rewarding experience. For me, highlights include volunteering at the annual
Holiday Party and seeing everyone dressed up and enjoying the dinner and dancing: I will never
forget the feeling of realizing that even my small contribution could make a difference. It’s an honour
to be part of the work of the Board in supporting those served by CLH DSS.
Kevin Cascagnette DIREC TOR
“I have been volunteering for CLH since 2012 and a member of the Board since 2022. What inspires
me to get involved is the belief that everyone deserves dignity and respect. Many people supported
by CLH DSS have become my friends and shown me some of the best of humanity. They’re artists
and actors and musicians and chefs. They are complex and wonderful people who sometimes
require a little help, and if I can be a factor in helping them get that assistance, I will do it each and
every day.
Volunteering gives back in so many ways, to the organization you’re assisting but also to yourself. It
fills your cup in a way that not a lot of other things in life will. Try different things and find out what
makes your heart happy and feels like a good fit for you. Volunteering brings like-minded people
together.”
