CLH COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT:
Huronia Community Foundation
The impact of Huronia Community Foundation and
its donors and funders on CLH Foundation and CLH-
supported individuals deserves sharing, and we’re
delighted to put this vital community partner in the
spotlight!
Established in 2000, Huronia Community Foundation
(HCF) was incorporated as Canada’s 99th Community
Foundation (in Canada today there are 191 Community
Foundations). It was founded by a group of community
members who had a vision to provide financial support to
the community by developing giving strategies based on
endowment funds held in perpetuity. HCF is now home to
over 80 unique funds established by community-minded
philanthropists and by local charities: the CLH Foundation
Endowment for example, provides almost $2,000 in
annual disbursements back to CLHF, which in turn is
directed to our annual Commitment to Care.
A member of the Community Foundations of Canada,
Huronia Community Foundation is also a conduit for
federal grants, national corporate funding initiatives

and pandemic-recovery funding. Using an application
process which includes review and decision-making by
volunteer members of the community, these grants have
had a big impact on a wide variety of community-serving
organizations across the region.
In 2023, CLH Foundation received funding via Huronia
Community Foundation from the Federal Community
Services Recovery Grant for building capacity to meet
the ever-growing needs of CLH-supported individuals,
a LabX Media grant to fund CLHF annual initiatives, an
annual disbursement from The Michelle Quealey Memorial
Endowment Fund, and in December, a matching grant
for Bridging the Gap from The Georgian Bay Community
Heart Forward Fund, a new fund initiated with HCF donors
M. Wayne and J. Coleman. These are impactful and
much-needed supports that make a significant difference
to those we serve. We are grateful for the vision and work
of Huronia Community Foundation!
